The esteemed Artosphere Festival Orchestra (AFO) returns to Northwest Arkansas in May to delight audiences as the musical centerpiece of the annual Artosphere: Arkansas' Arts + Nature Festival. This summer, Glimmerglass presents revivals of Puccini's La bohème and Bernstein's Candide, with new takes on Gounod's masterwork Romeo and Juliet and Handel's groundbreaking Rinaldo rounding out the mainstage offerings. In addition, the Festival will present the world premiere of Ben Morris and Laura Fuentes's The Rip Van Winkles, featuring the Glimmerglass Youth Chorus and members of the Young Artists Program. GMCMF audiences will enjoy a series of eight Artist Faculty concerts featuring our 40 distinguished faculty in creatively programmed performances in 2023. Participants in our intensive four-week program of solo and chamber music study energize the audience for our Artist Faculty Concerts. Some 200 string players, ages 14-30, are immersed in the Festival's atmosphere of focused professionalism, with four hours of daily individual practice, chamber music rehearsals, lessons, ensemble coachings, master classes, and extensive student performance opportunities in the concert hall and in unconventional venues in the Burlington community. Guest artists will include Joseph Lin, Norman Fischer and the Balourdet and Ariel quartets. Festival Fellows, select students in the early stages of their careers, will also perform with Artist Faculty during the 2023 season.

Other programs include works by such contemporary American composers as Mason Bates, Michael Abels, and Michael Tilson Thomas. For a special Pops Night, Stéphane Denève leads the Festival Orchestra in John Williams's music. Major orchestral repertoire includes Mahler's Symphony No. 5 and Stravinsky's Rite of Spring. Education programs are also offered—tuition-free—at the Festival's Music Institute during the opening weeks of the summer concerts.

Presented by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra USA and the City of Vancouver, the inaugural Vancouver USA Arts & Music Festival celebrates music and art inspired by America. The multidisciplinary festival features performances from the VSO USA conducted by VSO Music Director Maestro Salvador Brotons and internationally renowned conductor Gerard Schwarz, known as a champion of American composers. Esteemed guest soloists include Anne Akiko Meyers, Orli Shaham, and Time for Three. Repertoire includes works by Aaron Copland, George Gershwin, and Adolphus Hailstork, among others.
