WHAT DISTINGUISHES THIS FESTIVAL
The Boston Early Music Festival offers GRAMMY Award-winning Baroque opera and is North America's premier Festival for Early Music.
FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
The 2023 Boston Early Music Festival will be presented June 4-11. Themed "A Celebration of Women," the week will feature the fully staged modern premiere of the first opera with a female librettist, Henry Desmarest's Circé, on a text by Louise-Geneviève Gillot de Saintonge, and a revival of our 2018 production of the first opera by a female composer, Francesca Caccini's Alcina. Dozens of concerts will continue the celebration, along with lectures, master classes, an Exhibition, and a Fringe series. 2023 Festival opera tickets went on sale in the summer of 2022 with the full schedule of concerts now available.
