Among the highlights are the world premiere of the White Rose Trilogy by David Chesky and the commissioned work for violoncello, choir, and orchestra, On a Clear Day, by Sean Shepherd. In the concert series Tastenspiele, the piano will be the focal point with 18 concerts. A special concert will be Wagner's Das Rheingold in historically informed performance practice with the Dresden Festival Orchestra and Concerto Köln conducted by Kent Nagano. Highly acclaimed soloists continue to visit the Festival, including Anne-Sophie Mutter, Till Brönner, Martin Grubinger, Joyce DiDonato, Hélène Grimaud, and Midori. This is followed by an enticing double-bill: Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice and the first English opera, Purcell's Dido and Aeneas with the Choir and Orchestra of The Sixteen. GMCMF audiences will enjoy a series of eight Artist Faculty concerts featuring our 40 distinguished faculty in creatively programmed performances in 2023. Participants in our intensive four-week program of solo and chamber music study energize the audience for our Artist Faculty Concerts. Some 200 string players, ages 14-30, are immersed in the Festival's atmosphere of focused professionalism, with four hours of daily individual practice, chamber music rehearsals, lessons, ensemble coachings, master classes, and extensive student performance opportunities in the concert hall and in unconventional venues in the Burlington community. Guest artists will include Joseph Lin, Norman Fischer and the Balourdet and Ariel quartets. Festival Fellows, select students in the early stages of their careers, will also perform with Artist Faculty during the 2023 season.

The Hollywood Bowl 2023 lineup reflects the excitement audiences experience each year returning to the LA Phil's spectacular summer home with superstar names in music, blockbuster films with live orchestra, and nights dedicated to jazz, blues, R&B, classical, rock, and more. The LA Phil continues its tradition of presenting classical concerts under the stars with its Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel and a star-studded roster of guest artists. Jazz Plus nights offer an eclectic trip through the world of jazz, blues, R&B, and beyond, with LA Phil Creative Chair for Jazz Herbie Hancock at the helm.

Arsenio Hall will host. Artists scheduled to appear include Kamasi Washington; the West Coast Get Down, with special guests Leon Bridges, Raphael Saadiq; St. Paul and The Broken Bones; trio Digable Planets; Poncho Sanchez; Aziza featuring bassist Dave Holland, saxophonist Chris Potter, guitarist Lionel Loueke and drummer Eric Harland; The Soul Rebels with Big Freedia; Samara Joy; Lionel Loueke and singer-songwriter Gretchen Parlato; Boukman Eksperyans; quintet Butcher Brown; Andrew Gouché and Prayze Connection; and next-generation student groups: the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz Performance Ensemble at UCLA, The Cardinal Divas of SC, LACHSA Jazz, LAUSD Beyond the Bell All District Jazz Big Band with special guest Charlie Young. FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
Honens, Canada's International Piano Competition, presents a mix of free and ticketed events featuring the keyboard—from Classical to World music. The 2023 Festival includes 2022 Honens Prize Laureate Illia Ovcharenko in recital, along with signature events—176 Keys (4 pianists, 8 hands), Bison Noir (a late-night cabaret), and Open Air at Central Memorial Park in Calgary. Also featured is the Ladom Ensemble, which brings a unique blend of acoustic, chamber, and world music that is passionate, sophisticated, and wild. Adding to the diversity of the Festival, Honens also welcomes the return of Xenia Concerts Inc., an organization working towards making music more accessible through programs designed for neurodiverse and disabled audiences.
