Communicating with Your Audience
During Edna’s 23 years as managing director of IMG Artists, she personally looked after the career of violinist, Itzhak Perlman and launched the careers of musicians such as pianists Evgeny Kissin and Lang Lang, violinist Hilary Hahn, and conductors Franz Welser-Mõst and Alan Gilbert.
Edna believes young musicians can grow their own careers, with “hard work, blind faith, passion for the cause, incessant networking and a vision that refuse[s] to be tarnished by naysayers.”

ASPECT FOUNDATION FOR MUSIC AND ARTS PRESENTS
WEIMAR: THE CRADLE OF MUSICAL TALENT, APRIL 19
Featuring Pianist Vsevolod Dvorkin and Cellist Sergey Antonon,
With an Illustrated talk by Musicologist Stephen Johnson
New York, NY (March 22, 2018) — The ASPECT Foundation for Music & Arts presents Weimar: The Cradle of Musical Talent on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at The Italian Academy at Columbia University, part of the foundation’s second New York City season of illuminating performances featuring many of the most prominent performers and musical scholars of today.
The evening features celebrated pianist Vsevolod Dvorkin and 2007 International Tchaikovsky Competition Gold Medalist, cellist Sergey Antonon, in Bach’s Cello Suite No.1 in G Major, Mendelssohn’s Cello Sonata No. 2 in D Major, and Liszt’s Piano Sonata in B Minor, paired with an illustrated talk by veteran BBC radio host and musicologist Stephen Johnson. Johnson will delve into the city of Weimar’s significance during the twentieth century as a beacon of culture. This includes Bach’s tenure as Weimar’s court organist; twelve-year-old Mendelssohn’s visit to the city, effectively making an impression on the writer Goethe; and Liszt’s 1842 appointment as court composer. Alongside performances of some of these three composers finest instrumental works, this concert examines the Golden Age of a city that became a place of refuge during troubled times.
The final concert of ASPECT Foundations’ 2017-18 season is “Fête Galante: The Anatomy of Melancholy” on Thursday, May 17 featuring the Four Nations Ensemble and soprano Sherezade Panthaki, with an illustrated talk by Tav Holmes.

About ASPECT Foundation for Music and Arts
ASPECT Foundation for Music and Arts was founded by Irina Knaster in London in 2011 and relocated to New York City in 2016. ASPECT presents a new concert format – one that transforms the traditional recital into an intimate, engaging, and thought-provoking blend of performance, speech, and image.
The Foundation’s chamber-music events feature some of today’s leading musicians and music experts. For each concert, they set the works on the program in context with presentations supported by visuals. These “illustrated talks” reveal fascinating details about the composer, the music, and the cultural history of the period in question.
ASPECT aims both to support and promote artists, and to welcome audiences old and new to explore new aspects of a classical repertoire of endless riches. It’s more than a concert. To find out more, please visit www.aspectfoundation.net.
