SEMIFINALS (live rounds)
March 2024, Preliminary round. The first juried stage, the Preliminary round is an anonymous adjudication of nominees by a distinguished panel of musicians. Five finalists are chosen based upon exceptional technical ability and unique musical personality demonstrated in the nominees submitted recordings.

Premiere series, September 2024 - March 2025: Each finalist performs solo piano and a concerto with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra. While in town, each also conducts a three-day residency at a local high school.
FINALS (live rounds)
Discovery Week, April 2025: Discovery Week brings all five finalists together for adjudicated performances across multiple genres from solo piano to concerto with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. The naming of the winner of the American Pianists Awards and Christal DeHaan Classical Fellowship immediately follows.

The American Prize provides evaluation, recognition, reward to America's finest performing artists, ensembles and conductors, composers, stage directors, based on recorded performances. Included are professional, college/university, community, high school artists; there are no age limits and no live competition.

The competition includes: conductors, (including Dale Warland Award in Choral Conducting); composers; pianists (including Lorin Hollander Award); classical vocalists (Friedrich & Virginia Schorr Award); orchestras; choruses; bands; opera companies; musical theater companies; stage directors (Charles Nelson Reilly Award) chamber ensembles; instrumental soloists; orchestral programming (Vytautas Marijosius Award); Performance of American Music (Ernst Bacon Award).

ABOUT THIS COMPETITION
The Kuleshov Festival and Competition is a biennial piano competition for high school and college students age 15 to 25, held on the campus of the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, OK. Participants and audiences enjoy a weekend of guest artist recitals, interest sessions, masterclasses and attending the competition performances.
