The competition seeks outstanding compositions for SATB chorus and organ in which the organ plays a distinctive and significant role; requirements vary for each competition. There is a $2,000 cash prize, publication by ECS Publishing, and a world premiere performance at an AGO national convention.

SEMIFINALS (live rounds)
March 2024, Preliminary round. The first juried stage, the Preliminary round is an anonymous adjudication of nominees by a distinguished panel of musicians. Five finalists are chosen based upon exceptional technical ability and unique musical personality demonstrated in the nominees submitted recordings. Premiere series, September 2024 - March 2025: Each finalist performs solo piano and a concerto with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra. While in town, each also conducts a three-day residency at a local high school. |

Discovery Week, April 2025: Discovery Week brings all five finalists together for adjudicated performances across multiple genres from solo piano to concerto with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. The naming of the winner of the American Pianists Awards and Christal DeHaan Classical Fellowship immediately follows. |

The American Prize provides evaluation, recognition, reward to America's finest performing artists, ensembles and conductors, composers, stage directors, based on recorded performances. Included are professional, college/university, community, high school artists; there are no age limits and no live competition.
The competition includes: conductors, (including Dale Warland Award in Choral Conducting); composers; pianists (including Lorin Hollander Award); classical vocalists (Friedrich & Virginia Schorr Award); orchestras; choruses; bands; opera companies; musical theater companies; stage directors (Charles Nelson Reilly Award) chamber ensembles; instrumental soloists; orchestral programming (Vytautas Marijosius Award); Performance of American Music (Ernst Bacon Award). Thirty-six pianists compete in Salt Lake City in June 2024 for $106,000 US in prizes. Twelve will perform a new composition by acclaimed composer Gabriela Frank in the Semifinal Round. Three will compete in the Final Round, performing twice with the Utah Symphony in two evenings of concerto performances.

BBC Cardiff Singer of the World is known throughout the classical music world as one of the premiere showcases for young professional singers at the start of their careers. Established in 1951 the Besançon Competition is the most complete competition in the world with classical, Romantic, 20th century and contemporary music, opera, and concerto. It is the only one where candidates are selected during live preliminary rounds (and not on their documentation).

The Fritz Kreisler International Violin Competition welcomes you to the world s music capital, Vienna. The next competition will be held in September 2026.
