The 2022 Bergen International Festival is the 70th edition and we look forward to celebrating a very vibrant 70-year-old this spring! The theme for this year's festival is "essence." The program includes artists such as Taylor Mac, Lise Davidsen, Leif Ove Andsnes, Einar Selvik, and Roomful of Teeth. Welcome to a marvelous cultural picnic just when spring is at its most beautiful, and 15 consecutive days of unique experiences.

Choral programs include a workshop on music of BIPOC composers with conductor Anthony Trecek-King at Tanglewood Learning Institute; choral/orchestral weeks including Vaughan Williams and Damien Geter with Conductor Katherine FitzGibbon in Sonoma; Handel's Judas Maccabaeus under the baton of Gary Wedow in Saratoga; and Mendelssohn and Poulenc with Grant Gershon in Barcelona's Palau de la Musica.

FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
Bravo! Vail's 35th season kicks off with the return of The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra for its second year in residency including the world premiere of a piano concerto by Chris Rogerson—performed with Artistic Director Anne-Marie McDermott—launching the Festival’s New Works Symphonic Commissioning Project. The Dallas Symphony Orchestra gives a world premiere by Katherine Balch plus Artist-in-Residence Hélène Grimaud joins the orchestra. The Philadelphia Orchestra performs with Haochen Zhang, Kirill Gerstein, Daniel Lozakovich, and Artist-in-Residence Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider. The New York Philharmonic celebrates Mahler, performs a world premiere by Carlos Simon, and welcomes guest artists Seong-Jin Cho, Bomsori Kim, Conrad Tao, and Zlatomir Fung. And the world-class chamber series returns, all in the stunning beauty of Colorado's Rocky Mountains.
