Savonlinna Opera Festival
Savonlinna Opera Festival
FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
Olavinlinna Castle is 550 years old. The world's northernmost medieval castle has witnessed tales and hidden secrets, standing proud in war and peace. In 2025, the Opera Festival will focus on the crème de la crème. During the centenary year, Olavinlinna will showcase highlights from past decades. The mighty Boris Godunov by Mussorgsky, Verdi's Macbeth, and Puccini's Turandot are particularly impressive in the castle. The summer's novelty is Joonas Kokkonen’s The Last Temptations, a new interpretation of the beloved Finnish opera. Our guest performers bring the oldest music ever heard at an opera festival to the castle. Purcell’s The Fairy Queen is a combination of opera and the aristocratic masques of the late 17th century.

Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival
Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival
