FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
This year's theme is "Stories in Song." Telling stories is a fundamental element of song, the fusion of words and music that creates such magical sparks. Featured are Roderick Williams performing his own arrangement of Die schöne Müllerin with the Carducci String Quartet; Benjamin Appl's centenary tribute to his mentor Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau; the Erlkings celebrating their tenth anniversary with a new arrangement of Winterreise; a day of Spanish and Latin-American song; a Halloween concert; and much more.

Ravello Festival
Ravello Festival
FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
The Ravello Festival is one of the oldest and most renowned festivals in Italy. The connection between Villa Rufolo, the delightful venue made impressive and welcoming by Richard Wagner and the Scottish philanthropist Francis Nevile Reid, sparked the idea of holding concerts in a place consecrated by famed composer himself. During the 1930s, the San Carlo Orchestra performed Wagner's music in Ravello; the idea became reality on the 70th anniversary of Wagner's death. In the summer of 1953, the first of the "Wagnerian concerts in Klingsor Garden" (as they were styled in the program) were performed by the San Carlo Orchestra.

Ravenna Festival
Ravenna Festival
FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
"Where there is music, there can be nothing bad." Inspired by the words of Don Quixote's Sancho Panza, the Ravenna Festival's 36th edition explores courage in its many forms—from the chivalric epic of Händel's Orlando in the opera trilogy (November 12-16) to Cervantes's wandering knight and the challenges of modern heroism.

The summer program (May 31 - July 13) features conductors Riccardo Muti, Zubin Mehta, Daniel Harding; pianist/composers Max Richter and Uri Caine; and special tributes such as The Tallis Scholars to Palestrina and Arvo Pärt, Accademia Bizantina to Vivaldi, Cat Power to Dylan, and Aterballetto to Ennio Morricone. The Festival also extends its reach with "Romagna in fiore," open-air concerts in support of flood-affected areas, and a special program of four concerts featuring Palestinian artists.
