WHAT DISTINGUISHES THIS FESTIVAL
Tippet Rise celebrates the union of music, art, architecture, and nature. Set against Montana's Beartooth Mountains on a 12,500-acre working ranch, Tippet Rise presents concertsindoors and outby internationally acclaimed chamber musicians and soloists and exhibits large-scale sculptures by some of the world's foremost artists and architects.
FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
- August 23: yMusic performs Gabriella Smith's Tippet Rise co-commission Aquatic Ecology, inspired by ocean ecosystems and addressing climate change.
- August 30: Violinist Aubree Oliverson and pianist Chaeyoung Park perform the Tippet Rise commission and world premiere of leading Ukrainian composer Valentyn Silvestrov's Two Pastorals for Violin and Piano (2020), the ninth of ten works commissioned by the art center from Silvestrov.
- September 14: The quartet Brooklyn Rider performs four Tippet Rise co-commissions, three written by Angélica Negrón (world premiere), Don Byron, and Ted Hearne, reflecting on citizenship and democracy for the Declaration of Independence's 250th anniversary. A fourth co-commission is by Brooklyn Rider's Colin Jacobsen, who puts his unique spin on the Bob Dylan civil rights era classic, The Times They Are a Changin'.
