The 21st International Festival of Improvisation, Jazz and Global Music Rigas Ritmi 2021 will offer concerts by both foreign stars and local artists in a number of different regional venues. This year features new star of American pop jazz and soul music Clark Beckham, global music supergroup Bokanté, new flamenco-styled Spanish saxophonist and singer Antonio Lizana, Lithuanian modern jazz masters Shinkarenko Jazz 4N together with Lithuanian singer Neda, and Latvian pianist Kristaps Vanadzins. There will also be workshops held by the main stars of the festival.

The all-professional Santa Fe Desert Chorale presents a festival of 11 concerts of three distinct programs under the unifying theme, Unlikely Partners. The individual programs include "The Jew and the Gentile: Salamone Rossi and Claudio Monteverdi"; "Roaring '20s"; and"East Meets West." For this last, the Chorale will premiere a commissioned work for mixed chorus and tabla by its first female composer-in-residence in over a decade, Reena Esmail. Two vocal chamber-music concerts take place on Friday, July 16 and Friday, August 6, 2021.

The 45th season of Spoleto Festival USA will take place May 28 to June 13, with both in-person and live virtual events. Planned programming includes dance, theater, and orchestral and chamber music, this last led and curated by Geoff Nuttall who hosts twice daily concerts at the Dock Street Theatre. The St. Lawrence String Quartet will premiere a new work by composer-in-residence Jessica Meyer. Outside at the Cistern Yard, Jason Moran and Alicia Hall Moran will present their production, "Two Wings: The Music of Black America in Migration," a multifaceted musical exploration of the Great Migration. But first, on May 22, there will be a free, livestreamed virtual gala honoring General Director Nigel Redden, who will retire at the end of this season after 30 years.

Through rigorous daily instruction, students ages 9-18 hone their musical and creative skills within a supportive community of like-minded peers and mentors, with a goal of improvising and composing original works. Part school, part camp, and part festival, YMP offers participants the chance to experience the thrilling process of bringing new music to life by attending concerts, classes, and open rehearsals. Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts is set to celebrate 50 years of the Filene Center and performances at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. Heralded as a "one-of-a-kind cultural destination," Wolf Trap's Filene Center has long been an artistic mainstay of the Washington, D.C. region. Plans for summer 2021 are being finalized and will begin to be announced in April 2021. With patron, artist, and staff well-being in mind, Wolf Trap's 50th-anniversary season will follow local, state, and federal health and safety guidelines. Wolf Trap is also proud to host Ellen Reid SOUNDWALK, April 6-September 6, 2021, a free immersive experience that brings together music, nature, and technology in celebration of returning to Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts.
