Continuing a 100-plus year musical tradition, the Yale School of Music's Norfolk Chamber Music Festival is a leader in the study and performance of chamber music. Each summer the Festival offers stellar concerts performed by acclaimed musicians from across the globe. Simultaneously, Norfolk offers three fully funded (tuition, housing, and meals) programs, each featuring intensive study with Festival artists and weekly performance opportunities. The Perlman Music Program Chamber Music Workshop |
FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
Led by esteemed cellist and teacher Merry Peckham, PMP's Chamber Music Workshop (CMW) continues to grow into one of the country's most prestigious summer chamber music programs. The workshop invites young artists ages 18 and up to devote three weeks to studying masterworks of the chamber repertoire with an exceptional roster of artist-faculty in Shelter Island, NY. Intensive rehearsals and coachings, absorbing master classes, late night sight-reading sessions and a marathon final concert weekend are all much-loved hallmarks of the workshop. Since 2003, the program has truly become a cherished place to hear today's most gifted young chamber musicians on Long Island's East End.
Open to violinists, violists, cellists, pianists, and ensembles, the CMW is led by an all-star artist-faculty: Kirsten Docter, Joseph Kalichstein, Joel Krosnick, Laurence Lesser, Merry Peckham, Director, Itzhak Perlman, Patrick Romano, Peter Salaff, Roger Tapping, Don Weilerstein, Vivian Hornik-Weilerstein, and Areta Zhulla.

Round Top Music Festival |

2020 celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Round Top Festival and the 250th anniversary of L. van Beethoven's birth. All orchestral programs include at least one of his works and works by Shostakovich, Mussorgski-Ravel, Franck, Stravinsky, Dvorak and Ravel. FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
The Sarasota Music Festival is a magical combination of 40 acclaimed faculty artists performing intriguing and dazzling pieces with 60 students from around the country. Led by Music Director Jeffrey Kahane, the participants (ages 18-30) perform chamber music together and alongside the faculty. This year's concerts include an evening of Baroque music, Appalachian Spring and Milhaud Creation of the World led by Mr. Kahane from the piano, Mozart Symphony No. 39 conducted by Larry Rachleff, and more. Soloists include violinist Angelo Xiang Yu and pianist Vijay Venkatesh. Other highlights: a new work commissioned by the Festival for the ensemble YMusic and Jeffrey Kahane; open master classes and rehearsals. The large faculty is comprised of some of the world's finest musicians.

The Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) welcomes resident companies New York City Ballet, The Philadelphia Orchestra, and The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (CMS) for the 2020 classical season. City Ballet's residency (July 14-18): the complete Swan Lake; Merce Cunningham's Summerspace; works by George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins; new pieces by Lauren Lovette and Justin Peck; New York City Ballet Orchestra led by Music Director Andrew Litton. The Philadelphia Orchestra under Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin (August 5-22): Beethoven's complete symphonic cycle in dialogue with newly commissioned works by Gabriela Lena Frank, Jessica Hunt, Carlos Simon, and Iman Habibi over four consecutive nights; Porgy and Bess with soprano Angel Blue and conductor Marin Alsop; Kevin Puts's Triple Concerto with Beethoven's Triple Concerto on back-to-back nights. Conductors Stéphane Denève and Louis Langrée and pianist Jonathan Biss also appear. The CMS (August 9-25): repertoire by Beethoven, Haydn and Mozart; Joan Tower and Amy Beach. Co-Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han in residence all three weekends; performances by the Calidore String Quartet, cellist Inbal Segev, and violinist Francisco Fullana.

FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
Under the direction of Music Director Michael Sachs, the festival in its 33 years has featured musicians from all 25 top U.S. orchestras. This season features principal players and concertmasters sharing the stage during an eight-week season featuring 13 classical performances. The festival continues Strings' tradition of featuring contemporary artists, from national touring acts and nostalgic favorites to innovative new performers. More than 70 Grammy-winning artists have performed at Strings Pavilion, a 500-seat concert hall that is the centerpiece of the summer festival as well as more than 75 performances year-round.
