WHAT DISTINGUISHES THIS FESTIVAL
Set on a 12,000-acre working ranch against Montana's Beartooth Mountains, Tippet Rise Art Center presents classical chamber music and recitals and exhibits large-scale, outdoor sculptures. Tippet Rise celebrates the concept that art, music, architecture, and nature are inextricably linked in the human experience, each making the others more powerful.
FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
The 2020 summer concert series at Tippet Rise Art Center will feature 24 recitals and chamber music concerts, spanning the repertoire from Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, Schubert, Schumann and Chopin to Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff, and Scriabin, plus contemporary composers Anna Clyne, Paul Desenne, Peteris Vasks, Rolf Wallin, Paul Wiancko and Jörg Widmann. It will also feature the world premiere of a Tippet Rise and Pnea Foundation co-commission by composer Bora Yoonùthe fifth Tippet Rise commission in as many years. The new work for flute and electronics, The Haunted Orchard, will be performed by flutist, MacArthur Fellow, and experimental cultural activist Claire Chase.
Artists include pianists Yulianna Avdeeva, Zoltán Fejérvári, Boris Giltburg, Richard Goode, Marc-André Hamelin, Dasol Kim, Valentina Lisitsa, Anne-Marie McDermott, Pedja Mužijević, Roman Rabinovich, and Yevgeny Sudbin; flutist Claire Chase; violinists Benjamin Beilman, Chad Hoopes, Alexi Kenney, and Tessa Lark; violists Dimitri Murrath and Masumi Per Rostad; Cellists Edward Arron, Gabriel Cabezas, Oliver Herbert, Arlen Hlusko, and Inbal Segev; baritone Tyler Duncan; and the Rolston String Quartet and Tesla Quartet.
