Grafenegg Festival
Grafenegg Festival
FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
In this season Grafenegg Festival takes place from 16 August to 8 September 2019. Between these dates, top orchestras, outstanding artists, and rising stars will gather to present a varied festival program.
Pluralism and diverse musical philosophies are at the forefront for the artists: the voices of Camilla Nylund, Sonya Yoncheva, and Christiane Karg demonstrate the breadth of the art of singing. Great orchestras from all over the world offer their very own approaches to interpretation: the legendary Concertgebouw Orchestra from Amsterdam, top ensembles from Rotterdam and Birmingham, the Mariinsky Orchestra from Saint Petersburg, the original-sound specialists Orchestre des Champs-Élysées, and the Vienna Philharmonic. The orchestras in residence will once more be the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) with its young, enthusiastic musicians from all over Europe and the Tonkünstler Orchestra with its Music Director Yutaka Sado. This year's composer in residence is Peter Ruzicka, who contributes a fanfare to open the festival and another commissioned work while also leading the composer-conductor workshop INK STILL WET.

26th Istanbul Jazz Festival
26th Istanbul Jazz Festival
FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
Istanbul Jazz Festival has been organized every year in July since 1994 by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV). IKSV chose to build this festival around jazz music because it believes jazz is one of the most innovative musical genres-open to new ideas, inclusive and accessible. Accordingly, IKSV organizes a broad-spectrum event that not only brings together music lovers and musicians, but also supports the work of jazz musicians in Turkey and encourages new productions.
Following the success of the editions in 2017 and 2018, the Festival will once again organize Vitrin: Contemporary Music from Turkey, a showcase and networking event dedicated to contemporary music from Turkey. With its centuries-old music tradition and vibrant contemporary music scene, Turkey has always been one of the main hubs of music in the world, taking inspiration from both East and West, making it a "musical silk road" where influences flow in each direction. While traditional values are preserved and refined on one hand, new styles and sounds emerge through cultural dialogue on the other. Vitrin aims to showcase the current state of all these influences, with the best examples in different genres: jazz, rock, electronic music, ethnic sounds, and global fusions.

FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
Istanbul Music Festival, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) under the sponsorship of E.C.A. Presdöküm Sanayii A.S., will be held from 11 to 30 June 2019. The Festival, which celebrates its 47th edition, presents a program built around this year's theme, "Darkness of Being, Lightness of Being," which will focus on the dualities in life such as good-bad, happiness-sadness, birth-death, and their impact on music and its creation process. The festival aims to emphasize the importance of music as a means to enlightenment in times of darkness.
