BOSTON ¦The Orchestra and acclaimed soloists of Emmanuel Music under the direction of Ryan Turner will present Mozart’s Abduction from the Seraglio.

Emperor Joseph II commissioned the opera in 1782 from the then 26-year-old composer and famously opined to Mozart, “Too many notes. Just cut a few and it will be perfect."

In this colorful opera that “knocked everything else sideways,” as the poet Goethe boldly remarked, Mozart tells the story of a kidnapping by pirates, a Turkish harem, a clever quest, a quartet of lovers, and unwavering loyalty.

Infused with Emmanuel Music’s acclaimed virtuosity and innovation, this enduring opera-in-concert will be sung in German with English dialogue.
