August 7th, 2017 - G. Schirmer and Associated Music Publishers (AMP), the world's pre-eminent classical music publishing house and part of The Music Sales Group, announces the appointment of Matthew Trent as Promotion Manager. "We are honored that Matt is joining our international promotion team at G. Schirmer / AMP, in support of our esteemed roster of Pulitzer, Emmy, Grammy and Oscar-winning composers," said G. Schirmer / AMP President Robert Thompson. After training at London’s Royal Ballet School, Matthew Trent spent two decades performing around the world in new productions and revivals of both classical and contemporary repertoire with the Australian Ballet (Principal Artist), The Royal Ballet, Opera Australia (Principal Guest Artist) and Billy Elliot on Broadway. After retiring from performance, Mr. Trent continued to pursue his passion for the performing arts in administration and production of classical music, film, opera and dance including roles within Sydney Festival (Artists Liaison), BAFTA NY (Head of Special Events) and for the past four years with choreographer and director Christopher Wheeldon. "I have chosen my career path out of love of all things music,” said Matthew Trent, “and I very much look forward to bringing that passion, guided by thirty years of experience in classical music, dance and opera, to this exciting position.” I am delighted that Matt is joining the New York team at G. Schirmer,” said Gill Graham, Group Head of Promotion. “Music Sales Classical's global reach will be stronger with him as part of it.” Part of the international Music Sales Group of publishing companies, G. Schirmer / AMP is one of the most respected names in American classical music. Founded in 1861 and acquired by Music Sales in 1986, G. Schirmer today boasts a legendary catalog which includes America's finest 20th- and 21st-century composers. Many of the world's most famous classical music publishing houses are part of The Music Sales Group: Chester Music (UK), Novello (UK), Edition Wilhelm Hansen (Denmark), Unión Musical Ediciones (Spain), Bosworth (Germany), and Éditions Alphonse Leduc and Le Chant Du Monde (France). Together they form the world's largest independent holding of classical music and represent some of the greatest composers of the 20th and 21st centuries.
