Jose Ramon Mendez in Concert – Second 2017 6@6 at Yamaha Solo Piano Performance

6@6 at Yamaha Solo Piano Series presents Jose Ramon Mendez in concert on Tuesday, March 28 @ 6:00 PM, as the second program of their 2017 performance series, curated by Mirian Conti, at Yamaha Artists Piano Salon, 689 Fifth Avenue (entrance on 54th street), 3rd floor in Manhattan.

Repertoire will be Bach/Liszt Prelude and Fugue in a minor BWV534, Schubert Impromptus Op. 142 Nos. 2 in A-flat Major and 3 in B-Flat Major and Rachmaninoff Preludes Op 23 No.1, 4 and 6 as well as Op. 32 No. 7, 11 and 12.

Pianist Jose Ramon Mendez’s recent performances include Chopin's first piano concerto with the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra and Manuel de Falla's "Nights in the Gardens of Spain" with the Nittany Valley Symphony, as well as numerous solo and chamber music performances in the United States, Europe, and Asia. His playing has been featured on WQXR's "Performance Today" and on Classical KMFA. He has been a guest performer at many music festivals, including Caramoor Festival, Barge Music Series, Festival Internacional de Piano de las Islas Canarias, Music at Penns Woods, Amalfi Coast International Music Festival, "Tocando el Cielo," Musica en Compostela, the Stony Brook International Piano Festival, and the Santander International Music Festival to name a few. 6 @ 6 at Yamaha, a solo piano performance series in its third season, curated by internationally renowned pianist Mirian Conti, has announced dates and performers for Spring 2017 at Yamaha Artists Piano Salon, on the 3rd floor of 689 Fifth Avenue (entrance on 54th street), in New York, New York. The series was formerly known as 5 @ 5 at DiMenna.

These recital programs will feature world-class international pianists exploring an array of solo piano works from the last 400 years. Other Spring 2017 dates and performers are:

Argentine/American pianist, Yamaha artist, and series curator Mirian Conti, based in New York City, is a musician whose performances combine technical brilliance with striking originality and artistic insight. Stylistically assured in a wide range of repertoire, Ms. Conti’s prolific recording output and international concerts have garnered praise and awards. In recognition of her extraordinary talent, a scholarship honoring Mirian Conti was established at The Juilliard School by the Edwin Bachman Estate. In addition, she was selected as one of the “100 Outstanding Alumni” to celebrate The Juilliard School's Centennial in 2005-6.

Her latest CD, Children’s World, recorded at Yamaha Salon in NYC, has been released recently on the Albany label (Troy 1642). The Steinway & Sons label has released her recordings of the complete Chopin Mazurkas (CD 3003), Nostalgias Argentinas (CD 30010) and Panorama Argentino (CD 30023).
