On February 23, the charismatic opera tenor will bring a selection of Puccini arias to cinemas nationwide for a special one-night event with the release of “Jonas Kaufmann: An Evening with Puccini.”

For Jonas Kaufmann, the composer Giacomo Puccini is one of the giants of opera and made a great impression on him from the very start. “No aria is as loved today as ‘Nessun dorma.’ The legendary first concert of the Three Tenors took place only a few days before my twenty-first birthday, and for a long time I didn’t dare sing ‘Nessun dorma’ myself, since I was so in awe of the aria’s magic and its incredible appeal. Even today, whenever I hear and sing this aria, I still get goosebumps,” says Kaufmann.

Cinema Concert Event: “Jonas Kaufmann: An Evening with Puccini” Jonas Kaufmann is no stranger to the big screen, and on February 23 he makes his highly anticipated solo cinematic debut with the concert event, “Jonas Kaufmann: An Evening with Puccini” presented by Fathom Events and produced by Arts Alliance. Filmed on location in Italy, cinema audiences will take a front row seat at Jonas’ enthusiastically acclaimed Puccini concert, captured live from La Scala, Milan, which includes many of Puccini’s most loved tenor arias including “Nessun dorma.” Directed by Brian Large, this thrilling cinematic event includes a revealing introduction to Puccini – the man, the musician, the superstar – narrated by Jonas Kaufmann and featuring rare archive footage. Central to this concert event is Kaufmann’s unforgettable Puccini recital at the iconic Teatro alla Scala, Milan, which he described as one of the greatest nights of his life, making national news in Italy. The event was such a success that after five encores and 40 minutes of applause, the audience was still left wanting more. Cinema audiences can now experience this highly-praised event, featuring the Filarmonica della Scala conducted by Jochen Rieder.

The event will screen in over 300 select U.S. cinemas nationwide for one night on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. local time. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.fathomevents.com/event/jonas-kaufmann or at participating theater box offices. Fans throughout the U.S. will be able to enjoy this event in select movie theaters through Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network.
