Christopher Kaufman’s In Memoriam: Wendy Maraniss Performed on April 23 and Music from Earth on April 24 at Concerts in New York, New York

New York, NY – Christopher Kaufman’s In Memoriam: Wendy Maraniss for solo piano will be performed by Taka Kigawa on Tuesday, April 23 at 7:30 PM at Saint Peter's Church, 54th Street and Lexington Avenue in Manhattan. This will be part of the 4th Annual Douglas Townsend Social Networking Concert, hosted by the church’s Classical Concert Series.

In Memoriam: Wendy Maraniss was written in 1997 as a tribute to the life of the late pianist and friend of the composer. More about the piece at http://www.chkaufman.com/story.htm#mem. Other composers on the concert include Gloria Coates, William Mayer, Douglas Townsend, Theodore Wiprud, Kenneth Fuchs, Joseph Pehrson and Justin Tierney. Among the other performers are piano duo David Oei and Helene Jeanney; clarinetist Thomas Piercy with pianist Judith Olson; Voxare String Quartet; Zentripetal Duo with pianist Dimitri Dover and a trio comprised of Elise Carter, flute, Daniel Hane, bassoon and Veronica Salas, viola.

Kaufman’s Music from Earth for solo saxophone, electronics and multi-media imagery will be given its New York Premiere by Demetrius Spaneas on Wednesday, April 24 at 5:00 PM at Zirzamin, 90 W. Houston Street (corner of Lafayette) in Manhattan. This will be presented by Manhattan Producers Alliance’s Cameo Performances program, part of Tribeca 2013.
