The Colburn School offers a range of resources to help students and alumni plan and build their professional careers. All Conservatory students take two essential classes: the Healthy Musician, which teaches maintenance for professional health and the prevention of performance injuries, and the Working Musician, which offers a number of short courses designed to help them manage their careers as musicians. Undergrad students also take Teaching Musician, which equips them with pedagogy training.

The Center for Innovation and Community Impact offers individual advising and planning to Conservatory students, which allows them to tailor their experience to their own needs and goals. Career development staff work with students one-on-one and find opportunities for them to further explore their interests. In addition, the center teaches students engagement skills, including creating programs to develop new audiences and become arts leaders.

MISSION
The primary mission of the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College is to prepare students at both the undergraduate and master's level to contribute to the field of music locally, nationally and internationally through a rigorous, multi-faceted curriculum, including a balanced immersion in performance, theory, musicology, composition, and education. The School of Music offers 14 degree and certificate programs, from the traditional Bachelor of Arts in Music through the post-master's Classical Performance Diploma and the Master of Music in Jazz Studies, taught by a renowned and diverse faculty. Performance opportunities also exist for qualified non-majors. The school is located in New York City.
