Tulsa Opera’s Staying Alive video series keeps the music alive amidst the shutdowns by bringing to viewers at-home performances from the company’s featured artists every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Next week begins with 2017 George London Foundation Award winner and tenor Aaron Blake, singing Rachmaninoff’s “Spring Waters” from 12 Romances. He is accompanied by Lyndon Meyer.

Wu Man’s Pop Up Pipa series continues with guest Xuefei Yang, “a gifted guitarist who is said to have been the first guitar major at Beijing’s Central Conservatory of Music” (The New York Times). Together they perform Brahms’s classic “Lullaby” paired with a piece in traditional Chinese style titled “Spring Breeze.” Episode 11 is scheduled for Saturday, June 13.

singing Mozart’s “Alleluia” from Exsultate, jubilate
Tulsa Opera’s second Staying Alive guest next week is soprano Colleen Daly, who sings the “Alleluia” from Mozart’s Exsultate, Jubilate. She makes her virtual return to Tulsa Opera after singing the role of Micaëla in Carmen last year and is accompanied by Sophia Kim Cook. Additional videos in this web series appear on Monday and Friday.

featured on Carnegie Hall Fridays via Medici.TV
From Friday, June 12 at 3:00 a.m. ET to Monday, June 15 at 3:00 a.m. ET, Michael Tilson Thomas and the New World Symphony’s May 2019 program at Carnegie Hall will be available for free streaming via Medici.TV as part of Carnegie Hall Fridays. The program comprises Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique;the New York premiere of Julia Wolfe’s Fountain of Youth, which waswritten for NWS; and Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 5, featuring soloist Yuja Wang.

in the “Te Deum” from Puccini’s Tosca
In the week’s final Staying Alive video, baritone Weston Hurt performs “Te Deum” from Puccini’s Tosca. In the opera, this selection is sung by the character Scarpia, the role in which Mr. Hurt made his company debut at Tulsa Opera. He is accompanied by Lyndon Meyer. Additional performances in this video series appear on Monday and Wednesday.

Jennifer Koh concludes Alone Together series with new works by Kati Agócs, Vincent Calianno, Patrick Castillo, and Sugar Vendil
Recent episode of Alone Together (May 30)
Since April 4, violinist Jennifer Koh has been premiering new micro-works for solo violin as part of her and non-profit ARCO Collaborative’s Alone Together series. On June 13, she performs the last of the 40 commissions. Half of the new works were donated by composers with salaried positions or, in many cases, other forms of institutional support to carry them through this challenging time, while the other 20 pieces were written on commission from freelance composers recommended by the donating composers. 2018 Gilmore Artist Igor Levit performs Satie’s Vexations
On May 30, to raise awareness for the plight of artists worldwide amidst the coronavirus pandemic, pianist and 2018 Gilmore Artist Igor Levit gave a 12-hour, live-streamed, marathon performance of Satie’s Vexations. To support this project, Mr. Levit drew upon the $300,000 awarded to him two years ago as a Gilmore Artist.
