For immediate release – New York, NY – Guitarist Thibaut Garcia will release Bach Inspirations on October 8, 2018, his second album with Erato. The album juxtaposes three famous works by J.S. Bach – including the Chaconne from the Violin Partita No. 2 – with works inspired by Bach. Garcia was praised for his “smooth, rich and sweet sound and impeccable virtuosity” when Erato released his debut album, Leyendas, in 2016. BBC Music Magazine went on to describe the French musician’s recital of Spanish and Argentinian music as “outstandingly played…a delight for everyone, from the curious discovering the core Latin guitar repertoire to collectors who want the best.” Garcia toured the U.S. for six months to promote the album in 2016-17. Works on the new album range widely, both chronologically and geographically: from Gounod’s much-loved Ave Maria, to works from the 20th century by Brazilian Villa-Lobos, Polish-born Frenchman Alexandre Tansman, Paraguayan Agustín Barrios Mangoré, and Serbian/American Dušan Bogdanovic. French soprano Elsa Dreisig, another Erato artist, joins Garcia on two of the tracks. “Bach has been part of my life as a musician since the very start,” says Thibaut Garcia, “and I have always been fascinated by him – by the purity and grandeur of his works, but also by his emotional dimension.” Garcia will tour Europe and the US throughout 2018 and 2019, including a recital at London’s Wigmore Hall in October 2018, and a performance November 14 in New York City as part of The Crypt Sessions.
