MISSION
Mannes is dedicated to advancing and supporting the creative role of music in all aspects of a rapidly changing world. Mannes seeks to develop “citizen artists” who engage the world around them, in traditional and new approaches. Powered by a remarkable faculty and creative curriculum, Mannes prepares students for the professional world they will encounter today. A cornerstone of the College of Performing Arts, alongside the schools of Jazz and Drama, and Parsons, Mannes breaks down the walls between classical, jazz, and dramatic arts, as well as art and design to provide unparalleled breadth and depth of learning and achievement.

At Mannes School of Music, students receive exceptional preparation for careers in music by engaging in a highly progressive curriculum to develop their unique artistic voice and explore how to use that voice to engage with the world around them, in and through the arts. In transitioning from student to citizen artist, students benefit from the mentorship and guidance of world-class faculty and supportive administrative staff. The New School's Career Services office helps students build professional networks by fostering connections with alumni, faculty, and employers. It offers an online job board, interview and portfolio workshops, networking opportunities, career fairs, internship support, and other resources.
