2020-21 GUIDE TO MUSIC SCHOOLS

Northeastern University Department of Music
Northeastern University Department of Music
MISSION
Our curricula in music history, ethnomusicology, music theory, music technology, and music industry are designed to facilitate flexible options that allow the integration of studies in music with other disciplines, either within the College or Arts, Media and Design, or in collaboration with Northeastern University's other colleges, encompassing the humanities, sciences, business and law. Our mission is to embrace but also transcend career preparation in music to foster the next generation of thought leaders and change agents at the intersection of uniquely creative paths in research, technological innovation, and the entire range of human literacies. Beyond our training of critical thinkers and practitioners in the arts, the music program at Northeastern is also dedicated to providing all students at Northeastern the opportunity to make music at every level of ability-through individual lessons, small ensembles, and large ensembles, with repertoire that spans all genres from classical to jazz to folk to popular music, including traditions from around the continent and around the world.
