WHAT DISTINGUISHES THIS FESTIVAL
La Jolla Music Society's SummerFest, established in 1986, is an internationally recognized chamber music festival set against San Diego's ocean backdrop. Every August, renowned musicians perform a diverse mix of classical and boundary-pushing concerts. The Wall Street Journal calls it "a gem of a chamber-music festival."
FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
Classical musicians from across the globe converge in La Jolla for four exciting weeks of performances. Centered around the theme of "Milestones," highlights include Philip Glass's complete études performed by nine pianists sharing the stage, a one-night-only concert merging jazz with Baroque music, Strauss's riveting Four Last Songs with opera superstar Renée Fleming, and more. The roster includes some of today's most renowned artists such as Alan Gilbert, Jessie Montgomery, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Alisa Weilerstein, and Osmo Vänskä, among others. Don't miss one of Southern California's biggest events of the year.
