La Jolla Music Society SummerFest
La Jolla Music Society SummerFest
WHAT DISTINGUISHES THIS FESTIVAL
Amidst San Diego's ocean backdrop, La Jolla Music Society's SummerFest is a nationally recognized chamber music festival established by the local community in 1986. Each August, SummerFest assembles an outstanding roster of renowned musicians to perform a rich variety of presentations, and carries forward a legacy of commissioning new works.
FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
La Jolla Music Society's SummerFest has been expanded to four glorious weeks!
Music Director Inon Barnatan has created an ambitious program, evocatively titled "Under the Influence," exploring the muses that seduced and inspired some of the greatest composers in musical history.
During the Festival, we'll hear the magnetic effect of Wagner and J.S. Bach on their peers, travel to the salons of Paris, and experience the sins and merry pranks of Kurt Weill and Strauss. We'll spend a genre-defying and unique week with opera stars, dancers, and jazz luminaries, and go further under the influence in a new intermission-free Wednesday series that welcomes audiences into the worlds of Shakespeare, Vivaldi, and more, followed by a social and culinary experience in the Wu Tsai courtyard.
