Festival Ljubljana
Festival Ljubljana
WHAT DISTINGUISHES THIS FESTIVAL
The Festival Ljubljana is regarded as one of Europe’s most important cultural and art institutions, hosting numerous amazing artists from all over the world. The institution continuously provides cultural fare for the public through a wide range of cultural events and organizes activities relating to theatre, music, the visual arts, conventions, etc. It has won recognition for its long tradition, fine selection of featured artists and events, artistic excellence and, last but not least, its affordability to a wide circle of visitors. Festival Ljubljana has been a member of EFA since 1977.
The main event is the International Summer Festival—Ljubljana Festival—symphonic and chamber concerts, as well as opera, musicals, ballet and theatre performances featuring first-class foreign and domestic artists. The diversity of the Ljubljana Festival is further enhanced by the International Fine Arts Colony, which sees artists gather annually in the splendid surroundings of Plečnik’s Križanke complex, and also features children’s and youth workshops led by acclaimed and well-established artists. Every year Ljubljana Festival hosts more than 4,000 performers from at least 40 countries and each summer season the events are attended by over 80,000 Slovenian and foreign guests.
Besides that, Festival Ljubljana organizes several smaller festivals and events during the year—Slovenian Music Days, Young Virtuosi music cycle and Winter festival.
