FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
Walden's Young Musicians Program (YMP) provides an unparalleled creative summer experience for musically inclined students ages 9-18. Part school, part camp, and part festival, the program convenes each summer for five weeks in the beautiful Monadnock region in Dublin, New Hampshire. Through rigorous and innovative daily instruction, students hone their musical and creative skills within a supportive community of like-minded peers and mentors, with a goal of improvising and composing original works. Young musicians participate in and witness the thrilling process of bringing new music to life by attending concerts, classes, and open rehearsals. The program includes weekly Composers Forums where student compositions are played and discussed, and the summer culminates with the popular Choral Concert. In 2019, the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), Aurora Nealand, Ensemble Dal Niente, composer Kati Agócs, among others, will be in residence. www.waldenschool.org (Application deadline: May 1, 2019; fee: $50) [5 Week Program: June 29-August 4. // 3 Week Program: June 29-July 21.]
