WHAT DISTINGUISHES THIS FESTIVAL
The Perlman Music Program Chamber Music Workshop invites young string players and pianists over the age of 18 to immerse themselves in chamber music masterworks in a creative and embracing environment.
FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
Led by esteemed cellist and teacher Merry Peckham, PMP's Chamber Music Workshop (CMW) continues to grow into one of the country's most prestigious summer chamber music programs. The workshop invites young artists ages 18 and up to devote three weeks to studying masterworks of the chamber repertoire with an exceptional roster of artist-faculty in Shelter Island, NY. Intensive rehearsals and coachings, absorbing master classes, late night sight-reading sessions and a marathon final concert weekend are all much-loved hallmarks of the workshop. Since 2003, the program has truly become a cherished place to hear today's most gifted young chamber musicians on Long Island's East End.
Open to violinists, violists, cellists, pianists, and ensembles, the CMW is led by an all-star artist-faculty: Kirsten Docter, Joseph Kalichstein, Joel Krosnick, Merry Peckham, Director, Itzhak Perlman, Patrick Romano, Peter Salaff, Roger Tapping, Don Weilerstein, Vivian Hornik-Weilerstein, and Areta Zhulla.
