WHAT DISTINGUISHES THIS FESTIVAL
69 years of experience in running a young artist festival with over 3,000 alumni, many of whom are now singing on the best stages in the world. We are the only summer opera festival of its type in the south central states.
FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
Opera in the Ozarks is a unique summer music festival in beautiful Eureka Springs, AR. Founded in 1950, it has also earned the reputation of being a prominent training program for emerging opera professionals-alumni have gone on to sing on the world's major operatic stages.
Performing under the baton of Artistic Director Thomas Cockrell, dozens of professional artists and musicians come from across the country for a month of performances. The 2019 performance season spans June 21 thru July 19, featuring Puccini's La bohème, Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio, and Adamo's Little Women-a total of 22 performances of fully staged operas. There will also a children's opera, as well as Broadway cabaret, chamber music, and a Taste of Opera event (dinner). Locations vary throughout the multi-county region for these outreach events. Tickets will be available after May 1, 2019.
