Olshan Texas Music Festival
Olshan Texas Music Festival
WHAT DISTINGUISHES THIS FESTIVAL
The festival invites nearly 100 young orchestral musicians, chosen from very competitive auditions, to study and perform the major works of the orchestral literature under renowned conductors. Each Orchestra Fellow receives a full fellowship for study. TMF is Houston's major presenter of Classical music each June.
FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
With over 20 public concerts and 30 public master classes, the Festival helps 100 young classical musicians develop skills in orchestral, chamber music, and solo performance. Orchestra fellows perform four major programs led by a conducting faculty that includes Mei Ann Chen, Hans Graf, Franz Anton Krager, and Carl St. Clair. Soloists study with Richard Beene (bassoon); Leone Buyse (flute); Jonathan Fischer (oboe); Mark Hughes (trumpet); and Robert Johnson (horn). Additional programs include Le chiavidi belcanto, the High School Piano Institute, the Informed Flutist, and the High School Jazz Institute.
