ABOUT THIS COMPETITION
The Stulberg Competition was founded in 1975 in memory of Julius Stulberg, beloved teacher and conductor of the Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestras. The Stulberg provides performance and educational opportunities for young musicians as they prepare for their college studies and launch their performance careers.

ELIGIBILITY
Open to students of violin, viola, cello, or double bass. Applicants must be age 19 or under as of January 1. Proof of date of birth will be required if selected as a semifinalist; current students of the judges are not eligible.

SEMIFINALS (live rounds)
May 17-18, 2024, Kalamazoo, MI; 12 semifinalists will perform from memory for up to 20 minutes a piece/movement(s) submitted in their applications and a Bach solo piece from an approved list; collaborative pianists will be provided.
FINALS (live rounds)
May 18, 2024, Kalamazoo, MI; finalists will perform for up to 15 minutes additional repertoire at a Finals Concert
