ABOUT THIS COMPETITION
The Walgreens National Concerto Competition is designed to give young musicians a positive learning experience in a competitive and supportive environment. Professional judges provide constructive feedback about what the student is performing well and what areas need improvement.

ELIGIBILITY
MYAC (Midwest Young Artists Conservatory) Orchestra Division:
  • Must be an active participant in MYAC Orchestra Program
  • Junior Level is for students in 8th grade and younger
  • Senior Level is for high school students.
Open Division:
  • For all other entrants, including MYAC's Chamber Music, Choral and Jazz programs, as well as students outside of MYAC's programs
  • Junior Level is for students in 8th grade and younger
  • Senior Level is for high school students.
The competition is open to all instruments, which are judged in the following categories: String, Piano, Voice, Winds & Percussion and "Early Music."*
*Students are automatically entered in the "Early Music" category—in addition to their instrument category—if the piece they are performing was written before 1800. Strings, harpsichord, recorders, gamba winds and brass are encouraged to participate.

FINALS (live rounds)
There is only one round, and will take place December 28-30, 2022 at the MYAC Center in Fort Sheridan, located at 878 Lyster Road in Highwood, IL, as well at Ravinia's Bennett Gordon Hall, located at 201 St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park, IL.
