ABOUT THIS COMPETITION
Quinquennial international voice competition held in Helsinki, Finland. One of the world’s leading singing competitions. Designed for outstanding young singers, it is known for its high standard, exacting repertoire, superb prizes, and prestigious Jury. All rounds are streamed globally live online, recorded, and televised by the Finnish Broadcasting Company. Categories for both men and women; €173,000 prizes to be awarded in both categories all together. First €30,000, Second €20,000, Third €15,000, Fourth €10,000. The semifinalists will receive an award of €1,000.

Women born in 1994 or later and men born in 1992 or later are eligible to participate in the competition in 2024, regardless of nationality.

SEMIFINALS (live rounds)
Preliminary Round (live rounds): June 3-6, 2024, Sibelius Academy Concert Hall, Helsinki, Finland. Competitors perform a 15-20-minute recital including: an aria from a passion, oratorio, mass or cantata from the 17th or 18th centuries; two solo songs of which at least one must be a Lied; an opera or concert aria.
Semifinals (live rounds): June 8-9, 2024, Helsinki Music Centre Consert Hall, Helsinki, Finland. Sixteen to twenty competitors perform a 30-minute recital including: a song by a Finnish composer; a group of solo songs (lasting 15-20 minutes); an opera or concert aria
FINALS (live rounds)
May 12, 2024, Helsinki Music Centre Concert Hall, Helsinki, Finland. Eight competitors perform two works with orchestral accompaniment, of which at least one must be an opera, oratorio, cantata or concert aria. The finalists will be accompanied by the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra.
