SEMIFINALS (live rounds)
To accommodate possible travel restrictions, the preliminary rounds with 40 selected singers will be completed virtually (live) June 15-16, 2021. All 40 selected participants must prepare a live video performance of one aria and one Lied, accompanied by piano. The participants are expected to provide their own pianist for the preliminary round, but may ask the competition for assistance if needed. The competition's jury will select 12 singers to perform during the semi-final in Oslo. The semi-finalists must register in Oslo on Friday, August 13 and the semifinal will take place at the Norwegian Academy of Music on Sunday, August 15.
FINALS (live rounds)
Six candidates will be admitted to the final. The repertoire is chosen by the jury from the contestant's list of arias and the competition's list of duets. The pieces are to be performed with the Norwegian National Opera Orchestra. The final concert is held in the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, Main House, and will be broadcast by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK).
