ABOUT THIS COMPETITION
Piazzolla Music Competition is the international music competition for instrumentalists and ensembles in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Astor Piazzolla, presented in collaboration with Fundación Astor Piazzolla and with the involvement of the composer's family.
Any musical work composed by Astor Piazolla will be accepted. Video submissions must contain a minimum of four minutes of musical performance. There is no maximum duration. If a submission has more than ten minutes of musical performance, the contestant will be judged on the first ten minutes of their performance.
Video recordings (audio only not acceptable) must be performed by the applicants. Each contestant must upload their video to YouTube, Vimeo, or other public streaming platform. Videos can be posted publicly or be unlisted. Contestants must then supply the URL link to the video as part of their submission. Download links will not be accepted.
Proceeds from the 2021 Piazzolla Music Competition will benefit music education charities.

ELIGIBILITY
The Competition is open to artists of any nationality, state, or country of residence.
  • All contestants must be 13 years of age at the time they appear in their video submission.
  • Submissions for Category B: Ensembles must feature ensembles featuring no more than six ensemble members.
  • Contestants must submit a video to The Competition that conforms to all Video Requirements listed below. Audio-only submissions will be disqualified.
  • Individual contestants may participate in both the soloist and ensemble categories.
  • The following contestants are not eligible: 1) family members of judges, 2) staff members of competition sponsors, 3) staff members of The Piazzolla Competition, and 4) staff members of PARMA Recordings.
