The Mirjam Helin International Singing Competition |

ABOUT THIS COMPETITION
Quadrennial international voice competition. Designed for outstanding young singers, it is known for its high standard, exacting repertoire, superb prizes, and prestigious jury. Altogether, prizes total €173,000. Streamed live, recorded, televised by the Finnish Broadcasting Company. Semifinalists will receive €1,000.

ELIGIBILITY
Women born in 1989 or later and men born in 1987 or later are eligible to participate in the competition in 2019, regardless of nationality.

SEMIFINALS (live rounds)
Helsinki Music Centre, Helsinki, Finland
Preliminary Round (live rounds): May 20-23, 2019. Competitors perform a 15-20-minute (maximum) recital including:
- An aria from a passion, oratorio, mass or cantata from the 17th or 18th centuries.
- Two solo songs of which at least one must be a Lied.
- An opera or concert aria.
Semifinals (live rounds): May 24-25, 2019. 16-20 competitors perform a 30-minute (maximum) recital including:
- A song by a Finnish composer.
- A group of solo songs (lasting 15-20 minutes).
- An opera or concert aria. |

FINALS (live rounds)
May 29, 2019: Eight competitors perform two works with orchestral accompaniment, of which at least one must be an opera, oratorio, cantata, or concert aria (maximum 20 minutes).
