LONGY'S DALCROZE SUMMER INSTITUTE
Program Highlights
We welcome music instructors, instrumentalists, singers, conductors, composers, music students, music therapists, as well as actors and dancers. The Institute includes Certificate Level Pedagogy classes, Eurhythmics, Solfege and Keyboard Improvisation classes. All classes are grouped according to level.
What Distinguishes This Program
Students from around the world receive their Dalcroze education through this Institute. Dalcroze Eurhythmics uses rhythmic movement, intense listening, and improvisation to unlock creativity. Applicable to the music classroom and the private studio, to the beginning musician and the advanced performer, this holistic approach to musical understanding complements traditional study and practice.

LONGY'S DIVERGENT STUDIO
  
Program Highlights
Program Highlights for Instrumentalists/Singers:
  • Daily coaching and masterclasses with loadbang and other Divergent Studio faculty
  • Project-based seminars exploring atonal and microtonal ear training, performing with electronics, complex rhythms, grant writing, career development, and improvisation
  • Daily student and faculty concerts
  • Workshops and social events with Divergent Studio composition participants
  • The opportunity to perform alongside members of loadbang
Program Highlights for Composers:
  • Each composer will be assigned an ensemble to write for. These ensembles include loadbang, Transient Canvas, and our other wonderful guest musicians
  • Compose pieces in collaboration with other Divergent Studio participants
  • Coaching with Divergent faculty
  • Composition lessons/small group masterclasses with Divergent Studio composition faculty and guest composers Hannah Lash and Paula Matthusen
  • Daily workshops covering both analytical and compositional topics
  • Workshops and social events together with the Divergent Studio performance participants
What Distinguishes This Program
At Longy's Divergent Studio, you'll experience a whirlwind 10 days of composition and performance. Attend as pre-formed ensembles or as individual performers for a dive into contemporary chamber music. Composers will work with Longy's composition faculty and Divergent Studio's guest faculty-hear your music performed live.

CERTIFIED MUSIC PRACTITIONER ® | MUSIC FOR HEALING AND TRANSITION PROGRAM, INC. ™
Program Highlights
MHTP’s program consists of:
  • 80 classroom hours, divided into five lively and inspiring modules
  • An Independent Practicum (45 hours of direct bedside musical work for approximately 100 patients)
  • The reading and review of two books for each module (books chosen from an extensive, pertinent reading list)
  • Development of 90 minutes of appropriate repertoire for various patient conditions
  • A 30-minute recording of music demonstrating your proficiency in providing therapeutic sessions
What Distinguishes This Program
Are you a musician with a compassionate heart ready to use your gifts in palliative care? Longy is delighted to collaborate with the Music for Healing and Transition Program, Inc. to offer a summer institute through which musicians can become Certified Music Practitioners® (CMPs). Vocalists or instrumentalists—skilled amateur and professional musicians are welcome.
