PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Instrumentalists and jazz vocalists participate in various large and small ensembles An emphasis is placed on sight-reading, as well as opportunities to perform with other students. Performance opportunities take place throughout the summer in Manhattan School of Music’s state-of-the-art recital halls and main auditorium.
The musical theater and classical voice curriculum includes acting, vocal coaching, dance, and performance techniques. Singers develop their vocal skills and dramatic interpretation as they rehearse and prepare for the summer’s culminating musical theater productions.
In addition to their major, all students take a daily theory class and participate in a diverse array of elective classes. Offerings include composition, songwriting, arranging, conducting, chorus, music history, improvisation for non-majors, piano for majors, and percussion for non-majors.
WHAT DISTINGUISHES THIS PROGRAM
MSM Summer provides instruction and performance experience in instrumental music and voice for students ages 8-17 in a dynamic conservatory setting. Students will develop their musical skills and will join a vibrant community of young musicians.
