Hailed by The New York Times for "... venturesome programming and stylishness of performance," the Sylvan Winds has appeared under the auspices of Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival. With over 35 seasons of concerts in New York City, the ensemble has performed at the Governor's Arts Awards at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and has presented imaginative programs of chamber works for winds in Town Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, Symphony Space, and the Caramoor International Music Festival.
With a performance on the Cutting Edge series, the quintet was also featured in a 100th Birthday Concert for Elliott Carter by the New York Composers Circle. The Sylvan Winds has also given concerts at the Cape Cod, Killington, Skaneateles, and White Mountains Festivals and the Festival of the Hamptons, as well as on major university and chamber music series, and in Korea. Their performances and recordings can be heard on New York City radio stations WQXR and WNYC, Boston’s WGBH, Minnesota Public Radio, and National Public Radio's Performance Today.
Renowned for the breadth of their repertoire, the Sylvan Winds has presented a number of New York, U.S. and world premieres. Koch International Classics released the ensemble’s debut recording of French chamber music for winds and their American CDs are on the CRI/New World and North/South Recording labels. Performing works for a variety of instrumental combinations, the Sylvan Winds has enjoyed collaborations with such distinguished artists as Gerard Schwarz, Ransom Wilson, the Guarneri String Quartet, Claude Frank, Kenneth Cooper, actor Louis Zorich, narrator Robert Sherman, and the American Brass Quintet.
