A Young Composer's Journey: Tiffany Qianxun Zhao's Harmonies of Hope

A Rising Star in the Music World

Tiffany Qianxun Zhao is a student of Phillips Academy. Recently, she joined and served as the Foundation Relations Director for The Hole In The Wall Gang Camp Charity Concert at the Weill Hall of Carnegie Hall on October 7th, 2024. Her compositions "Late June" and "Swaying of Hope” performed by many accomplished musicians, included Juan Esteban Martinez, Principal Clarinet of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and Qianwen Shen, violinist from  The Met Opera Orchestra… This charity concert featuring new compositions attracted a large crowd of music enthusiasts from both New York and Boston area. Following the concert, Tiffany, a talented young composer and a student of renowned composer Dr. Meng Wang at the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Division, shared her inspiring journey connected to The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp Foundation.

A Passion for Music and Philanthropy

Tiffany's journey began at the Indian Mountain School (IMS) in Connecticut, where she was inspired by the annual "By Kids for Kids" charity concert, a fundraising event for The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp Foundation to support patients across the United States, children and families with critical illness. This experience ignited her passion for giving back to the community. Meanwhile, experiencing her cousin's autism within her family deepened her understanding and compassion for individuals facing challenges.

A Musical Tribute to Peace

One of the highlights of the Carnegie Hall concert tonight was the performance of Tiffany's composition, "Swaying Hope." This poignant piece, inspired by her grandmother's experiences during World War II and echoed the sentiments of iconic figures like Bob Dylan, who used music as a powerful tool for social change.Her music is a constant exploration of the destructive nature of war and the enduring hope for peace. With sensitivity, she portrays the pain inflicted by war, and counterbalances this with the joy and beauty of peace.
