The Madison Avenue Baptist Church (MABC) is proud to introduce the 2024/25 Emerging Artists Fellowship Program, a unique initiative designed to nurture and develop the talents of aspiring singers across various musical genres. This innovative program offers six talented singers the opportunity to immerse themselves in an array of musical styles, ranging from sacred choral works and opera to contemporary music and musical theater.

About the Fellowship

The MABC Emerging Artists Fellowship is a year-long program that allows fellows to explore and perform a diverse repertoire, including opera scenes, sacred choral works, art songs, chamber ensemble pieces, and more. Fellows will participate in the Madison Sounds music series, and special occasions such as Easter and Christmas festivals, providing them with unparalleled exposure, training, and performance experience.

Fellowship Benefits

Each fellow will receive a stipend of $1,000 and engage in various responsibilities, including performances in the Madison Sounds concert series, participation in fundraising activities, and contribution to outreach efforts. Furthermore, most public events will be professionally recorded and live-streamed, providing fellows with high-quality recordings for their portfolios.

Educational Opportunities

The fellowship includes weekly coaching sessions with MABC's Minister of Music, Aza Sydykov, a renowned pianist and coach. Fellows will also benefit from masterclasses by esteemed professors from New York's top music schools, covering a comprehensive coaching schedule throughout the fall and spring semesters.

Performance Highlights

Fellows will showcase their talents in several concerts as part of the Madison Sounds series, performing works by composers such as Tchaikovsky, Mozart, and John Rutter. These concerts offer a platform for fellows to present their artistry to the public and collaborate with the MABC Choir and guest artists.

Eligibility and Application

The program is open to singers aged 21 and above by the commencement date. Interested applicants are required to submit a video recording featuring two contrasting pieces, along with a resume and biography. Applications are free of charge and must be submitted by August 25, 2024.
