Conducting master class with esteemed international Maestro Enrique Diemecke accepting applications

Applications are now available for a conducting master class for select conductors with Maestro Enrique Diemecke, conductor and music director of the Grammy Award-nominated FIM Flint Symphony Orchestra. The program would span two weeks from June 26 – July 4, 2023.

Only eight conductors will be selected for this intensive program focusing on the repertoire of the 19th century. The nine-day session includes score analysis and score study sessions, and live conducting with two piano and orchestra sessions in Flint, Mich. Maestro Diemecke will lead all sessions.

The finale will be a public Fourth of July concert with FSO, also in Flint. Each conductor will lead the orchestra for a different piece, with Maestro Diemecke opening and closing the performance.

Diemecke is a product of the extraordinary Pierre Monteux School for Advanced Conductors. During his many summers there, he studied under the great conducting pedagogue, Charles Bruck.

Throughout his decades-long career, Diemecke has been giving master classes and teaching in Mexico and Argentina and has been the teacher of many of the leading conductors in Mexico. He is now ready to bring his vast conducting and teaching experience to the United States and feels FIM (Flint Institute of Music) would be the perfect location.

FIM Flint Symphony Orchestra has been performing under the baton of the maestro for 34 years – one of the longest tenures for a music director in the country. FSO is more than 105 years old.

Application deadline is March 31. Fee must be paid to apply. Scholarships are available.

For questions about the program or scholarships, contact FSO Operations Manager Cathy Prevett at cprevett@thefim.org.
