Classical Movements Takes a New Look at Domestic Destinations

May 12, 2020 | By Adam Jackson
Artistic Planning & Executive Assistant to the President

Classical Movements has experienced the dramatic impact of the covid-19 pandemic from our unique position at the intersection of arts and travel industries – and have witnessed the disruption on the activities of choruses and orchestras not just to their rehearsal and performance schedules, but to the concert tours that are a regular and valuable part of many ensembles’ activities.

There is of course anxiety about when even basic choral and orchestral activities will be able to resume, but we remain hopeful that with care and creativity on the part of all of us in the performing arts, ensembles will begin to rehearse and perform again sooner, rather than later.

Two weeks ago we announced a series of measures we are taking to address the ongoing crisis, including encouraging our clients to consider domestic tours. We know that once performing and traveling are again safe, musicians will be especially eager to tour again after so long at home. We have now announced 8 new domestic tour itineraries, to recommend meaningful and worthwhile opportunities for touring experiences within our own borders.

This builds on our 28 years of experience working on unforgettable tours within the United States, as well as abroad – and in recognition of the fact that there remains great uncertainty about what the future of international travel will look like in the near future and the financial limitations with which many of our clients will have to contend.

Taking advantage of our deep knowledge and network of contacts throughout the United States, we have produced the following 8 itineraries to some of the most breathtaking and rewarding destinations around the country, but will also continue to work with choirs and orchestras to craft meaningful tours based on cultural and historical themes, as well as to other domestic destinations not included on these itineraries, from Chicago, Minneapolis and other cultural centers of the Midwest to Maine and Vermont to Puerto Rico, Guam and American Samoa – among so many others:
