Celebrity Series of Boston Announces Emily Borababy as Chief Advancement Officer

October 17, 2019 | By Stephanie Janes

Gary Dunning, President and Executive Director of the Celebrity Series of Boston, announces the appointment of Emily Borababy as Chief Advancement Officer.

Dunning says, “We are thrilled to welcome Emily to the Celebrity Series as our Chief Advancement Officer. Her expertise in philanthropic giving and her abilities to build long-term institutional relationships are a great asset to the Celebrity Series as we continue to advance our mission of bringing live performing arts to residents of Greater Boston.”

Emily Borababy is currently serving as the Director of Development and External Relations for From The Top, Inc. where she provides strategic leadership for the organization’s fundraising, board relations, and external relations. A 13-year non-profit professional, Emily’s career has been marked by a comprehensive, metrics driven approach and proven relationship-building abilities with a focus on major gift fundraising. During her time at From The Top, Emily increased leadership giving across the country through targeted engagement strategies and effective relationship-forward approaches, reinvigorating fundraising efforts and leading to more efficient outcomes.

Prior to her role at From The Top, Ms. Borababy served as the Executive Director of the American Red Cross of South Florida and the Executive Director of the Florida Southern Gulf Chapter, where she provided influence-based leadership and built external relationships for the chapters. She served as a spokesperson for the Red Cross during Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria where she worked with local and national media, as well as elected officials. Previously, Ms. Borababy served as the Senior Director of Major Gifts for Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, the Director of Individual Giving for the Florida Grand Opera, and as Manager of Development Communications for the Boston Symphony Orchestra. She is making a full circle return to the Celebrity Series of Boston, where she landed her first development position as a Development Coordinator.

Ms. Borababy graduated summa cum laude from the Boston University College of Fine Arts with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. She is an active board member of the Nu-Deco Ensemble and generously gives her time to a number of community based organizations.

Emily Borababy says, ““It is an honor and a privilege to return to the organization that first inspired me to pursue a career in non-profit leadership. Celebrity Series is a vital force in Boston’s artistic landscape, and I look forward to working alongside Gary and the Board of Directors to reinforce the Series’ role as an industry leader in artistic excellence and innovative programming.”
