THE NORTHBROOK SYMPHONY PRESENTS “CELEBRATE ROMANTICISM!” AT 4 PM ON MAY 5th AT NORTHBROOK’S SHEELY CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS

The Northbrook Symphony presents a colorful bouquet of Romantic pieces from Brahms and Glazunov for the final concert of our exciting “Celebrate Music!” season, “CELEBRATE ROMANTICISM!” on Sunday, May 5th.

Glazunov’s stirring Wedding March, Op. 2 serves as a splendid prelude to the majestic sweep of Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 2, a monumental, 4-movement “Symphony for Piano and Orchestra.” The program completes its enchanting cycle with Glazunov’s Four Dances from Raymonda, Suite from Ruses d’Amour and Cortège Solenelle, Op. 89 No. 2.

Featuring the first appearance of renowned pianist Susan Merdinger with the NSO.

This is the final concert of the 2018-2019 season and the last concert conducted by Maestro Lawrence Rapchak. The Symphony will host a benefit on May 24th to recognize Mr. Rapchak’s tenure and welcome new Music Director Maestro Mina Zikri.

There will also be a pre-concert lecture by NSO’s popular speaker, Jim Kendros at 2:30 pm.

And remember, you are encouraged to bring your young family members to every concert; the NSO is continuing its exciting offer of FREE tickets for all children ages 7-18 when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult. Call the NSO office at (847) 272-0755 for details.
