TeRra Han, Korean kayageum master

Korean musical genius TeRra Han release 'Dreams of King Sejong, Yeo Min Lak' this month in US. The album released first 2015 in South Korea by Poly Music Co. The album was paid attention in South Korea that it was the first solo instrument version with Kayageum, 12 stringed Korean zither.

'Yeo Min Lak' which means Joy with the people, is the tune that the King Sejong composed in 1445 as the 125 lyrics written by Korean alphabet Hangeul, the Yeo Min Lak is originally for large orchestral court music of Choseon Dynasty but TeRra Han recorded solo version for the first time as a Korean traditional musician.

King Sejong, whose epithet is "the Great," is Korean King of the Choson Kingdom (1392-1910). He is considered to have been one of the most outstanding Korean kings of the Choson Kingdom (1392-1910) for his achievements in science, philosophy, music, and linguistics and many others.

Dr. Robert Provine, a professor of music department at the University of Maryland, evaluated this album as an unusual development of Korean traditional music.

“That's an interesting development in Kugak which means Korean traditional music these days-didn't happen in the old days when I started” -2015 January

TeRra Han started training music at the age of 4 in Western classical music piano and Asian traditional performing arts including singing and dancing in Korea, Japan and China. She started studying Korean traditional music at the age of 6 and already mastered all the gayageum-accompanied solo pieces in her teens. She was the first gayageum player to be named as the recipient of the Asian Cultural Council's Blanchette Rockefeller Fund.
