FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE: MAY 31st, 2017 North/South Consonance Chamber Orchestra & LSP Productions present the world premiere of :

Nuevos Aires, Violin Concerto (L. Suarez Paz) Leonardo Suarez Paz, violin soloist Rodolfo Zanetti, bandoneon concertante Leo Grinhauz, cello concertante Max Lifchitz, conductor The North/South Chamber Orchestra

DATE: TUESDAY, JUNE 20TH, 2017 TIME: 8 PM LOCATION: CHRIST AND ST. STEPHEN’S CHURCH 120 West 69th Street (between Broadway & Columbus), New York City Free Admission

Leonardo Suarez Paz is a “virtuoso extraordinaire on the violin” (Wynton Marsalis) and multiple Latin GRAMMY nominee who redefines contemporary music of Buenos Aires as a complex, evolving genre, deeply rooted in tradition but with one foot in the next century - a vision that was passed on to him by his mentor and family friend, Astor Piazzolla. Leonardo Suarez Paz returns from Buenos Aires after closing the prestigious “Piazzolla 25 Años” Festival at the Centro Cultural Kirchner in a sold out performance and is widely considered the "torchbearer" (D. Heining) of this celebrated Argentine composer.

Mr. Suarez Paz will premier his violin concerto Nuevos Aires, with the North/South Consonance Chamber Orchestra, which commissioned this composition, with cello and bandoneon concertante and under the direction of Max Lifchitz, who leads the orchestra in eight annual concerts featuring vocal and instrumental music from the Americas. This will mark the season finale in the visually appealing and acoustically superior setting of Christ and St. Stephen's Church.

In Nuevos Aires, Leonardo Suarez Paz continues to expand his new vision of Argentina’s rich culture, taking it beyond the musical and metaphysical boundaries of his homeland and into the world of contemporary music with all the influences that have made him the artist he is today, the sounds and personality of Tango, contemporary harmonies and rhythms of Nuevo Tango and influences from Classical and Jazz music.

Mr. Suarez Paz divides his time between New York and Buenos Aires, where he performs, composes and raises canaries and his family. He has been featured as a soloist at the Carnegies Hall, Spoleto and Umbria Jazz Festivals in Italy and has presented his productions at the Teatro Colon Opera House in Buenos Aires, the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and The Metropolitan Museum in New York, Chautauqua Institution, Cleveland Museum of Art, Buenos Aires Tango Festival, on PBS, WQXR, National Radio in Argentina and live at the 13th Latin Grammy Awards Ceremony, following a double nomination.
