18 Kennedy Center Trustees Fired; New Exec Director Installed
Trump is wasting no time in taking over the Kennedy Center, as threatened. In addition to firing Chairman David M. Rubenstein, who has given $111 million to the Center over time, and installing himself in his place, Trump has removed 18 from the board, many of them trustees who were appointees of his Democratic predecessors in the White House.
He says the programming at the Center is too “woke,” although he has not attended anything there recently. “There was nothing there I wanted to see,” he tells The New York Times.
According to the center’s website, the board currently has 17 members appointed by Trump.
Trump has announced on Truth Social that Ric Grenell is interim executive director of the Kennedy Center. Grenell, who is gay, is the former acting director of national intelligence and ambassador to Germany under Trump’s previous tenure.
