Joe McKaughan, Longtime Lincoln Center VP, Dies

August 10, 2020 | By Susan Elliott, Musical America

Joe Gentry McKaughan, Vice President of Public Affairs at Lincoln Center for some 30 years, died on May 15, 2020, at a hospice in Griffin, GA, his hometown. After he retired from LincInc in the late 1980s/early 90s, he moved back to Griffin, where he lived with his friend and partner of 46 years, Joseph Jackson, who pre-deceased him. In Griffin, Joe McKaughan continued his support of the arts, joining the board of the Main Street Players Theatrical Group, among other philanthropic endeavors.

Joe was born on February 12, 1942 to the late Duke McKaughan and the late Ruth Taylor McKaughan.

As his local obituary writer states, “He always had a smile and when he talked with you he made you feel good.”

We are attempting to fill in the blanks of Joe's academic and early career years; please contact editor@musicalamerica.com if you have any information.
