Valery Gergiev Honoured With The International Sergei Rachmaninov Award

 The SERGEI RACHMANINOV INTERNATIONAL AWARD 2015 was awarded on Tuesday night, May 17th, 2016 in Moscow.

The Award is conferred on the individuals who take a special interest in Rachmaninov’s work and spirit and is intended to support and pay tribute to their work. The Russian Committee of the Sergei Rachmaninov International Award presents to Musician for an outstanding contribution in the areas of creative diversity and cosmopolitan actions to promote music by Sergei Rachmaninov abroad.

Throughout the 2015 year the selection committee chooses the Rachmaninov Projects taking place worldwide. The president of Award nominates the best projects to the position and the Artistic Committee votes on the nomination. After approval and signing by the chairman of Artistic Committee Maestro Vladimir Ashkenazy, the “Sergei Rachmaninov International Award” announced the winner of 2015.

-The Laureate of 2015 Sergei Rachmaninov International Award – Russian conductor VALERY GERGIEV. Maestro Valery Gergiev has been awarded the 2015 Rachmaninov International Award for his extraordinarily successful achievement in organizing several Rachmaninov Festivals and conducting all the piano and symphony works of Rachmaninov during International Music Festival in Rotterdam 10,11,12 September, 2015 and Rachmaninoff Festival in Beijing - 3,4 December 2015 .

The Award consists of a diploma and gold-plated solid bronze statuette.The original design of Rachmaninov Statuette was by russian artist and sculptor Alexander Egorov. Statuette stands 25cm tall and weighs 1600 grams. Rachmaninov Statuettes presented at the ceremonies are solid bronze plated in 24-karat gold.

Sergei Rachmaninov International Award has been presented in Moscow, Russia since 2013 -the Year of Sergei Rachmaninov celebrating the 140th anniversary of his birth and marking the 70th anniversary of his death. The first Rachmaninov Award 2013 was given to Italian Pianist and conductor Epifanio Comis for organizing and conducting the Rachmaninov Festival with all his Piano concertos and Symphony music.

The Sergei Rachmaninov International Award 2014 went to Russian Pianist and conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy for recording all the piano works by Rachmaninov. From 2015 Maestro Ashkenazy becomes to be the Chairman of the Artistic committee of the Sergei Rachmaninov International Award.

The President and Founder of the Sergei Rachmaninov International Award, Violetta Egorova, is a Russian pianist and member of the Board of the Rachmaninov Society in Moscow. The artistic Director of Rachmaninov Award is Russian composer and pianist – Alexander Tchaikovsky. http://www.rachmaninovaward.com/
